From humble beginnings in 1857, TTB is recognised as the oldest continual brass band in the Southern Hemisphere.Based in the iconic Barossa Valley and drawing on the strong German roots of the area, the members of the band volunteer their time and skill at weekly rehearsals, public concerts, competitions, corporate engagements, community events, and trips interstate and overseas.
The band’s rehearsal venue – the Tanunda Band Hall – has many trophies, photographs and memorabilia from throughout its existence, however through the annals of time some items have been lost. As such, Tanunda Town Band is constantly seeking any information, documents, artifacts or recordings from anytime in its history. Please contact us if you have anything the band may be interested in, either by donation, copying or purchase.
Over the years, TTB has produced multiple recordings, including radio broadcasts, movie & documentary soundtracks, studio records, tapes and compact discs, as well as highlight video clips from Melodienachts. The band’s current CD release is titled Ein Prosit and is full of favourite Oom-Pah songs from our repertoire. Purchase directly from the band at Melodienacht or by contacting us. $15 (including postage).
